Personal Growth for Marketing Success

Starting from Square One

Someone I coach who was considering marketing online told me she didn't know what she would promote online. I asked her the most basic questions: What are you good at? What do you enjoy doing? What are you passionate about? What do you already know that you would like to teach? It turns out she knows a lot. She knows how to write, publish, take pictures, videos, design and build websites and more. This gal didn't see that she already had the skills that most people are paying big bucks to develop. For so many of us, our likes and dislikes and creative sides seem to get shoved into a tiny corner and it's only when someone says, "Hey! Think about what you like and don't like." that we might be able to come up with something. We all have natural tendencies for things we like or dislike and for the abilities that are innate in our being. It takes time though to tap into those things and realize how we would like to manifest our talents. Without tapping into that part of ourselves, it's impossible to be effective in life or business. It's foundational.  All the social networking skills in the world won't help you in your life or business if you don't first come from a place of understanding yourself, your skill level and a then create a plan of action. Let's begin with getting to know YOU! 3 Essential Questions to Help You Sometimes we just need a little memory jogger. Here are 3 questions you can ask yourself to help you determine how you're going to figure out who you are: 1. Ask yourself what you liked to do when you were a kid. For example, when I was young I enjoyed doing a lot of physical activities. I liked dance, tumbling, riding my bike, playing kick ball and swimming. It's no wonder that I love practicing and teaching yoga. I was also very social. Voila! I am a natural networker! Maybe you enjoyed drawing or digging in the dirt. Your goal here is to identify what's in your nature that you may have forgotten about. Years of work, stress and other life issues can get in the way of connecting with how you were designed. It is very important for your health and your work life to reconnect with that part of you. Write these things down. 2. If you could do something that you wouldn't get paid for, what would it be? Maybe you love to scuba dive. Maybe you would like to teach scuba diving. Perhaps you enjoy serving the poor or raising money for charities. Whatever it is, think about the possibility of doing that for a living – or at least combining your passion with some way of making money. 3. What is most meaningful to you? What has your heart? Is it animals? Children? Spirituality? Business? The elderly? Horses? The enviroment? What tugs at your heart strings? I have a heart for abused children. Years ago, that feeling led me to volunteer for an organization that helps prevent child abuse. This is an area that I would like to contribute more to financially. It's one of the things that drives me to succeed in my business life. It helps to identify what moves you emotionally. We are all moved by something. There you go. Three questions that if you answer thoughtfully, can lead you to creating a new career or marketing focus for your business. Getting to the Personal Growth Part Personal growth comes from facing challenges, difficulties and questions that make you stop in your tracks to re-evaluate what you are doing.  It takes time to figure these things out.  For some it takes prayer; for others it takes reading and/or journaling; for others it takes converstion with others who may ask the right questions.  Whatever you need to begin developing yourself for success, do it!  Take the time, face the challenges head on and perservere!  You can do it. Be honest with yourself.  It's the highest way to live.  Know you have what it takes, but then also know what it is you need.  When you really understand what you need, you can address the solutions to figure out your game plan. No matter what you do in life and in business, you will run into snags, obstacles, set-backs.  Do not let those deter you from your dreams.  Allow them to help you grow and become more of who you are meant to be.  Utilizing your full potential is the ultimate dream in my opinion.  Using your gifts and talents to make the world a better place – little by little – is a great place to be.

Smooth Sailing to Social Media Success!
